Abstract:
»According to some modern radical ideologists of political Islam, enslaved women may be forced to furnish sexual services. Sources dating back to the early Islamic period confirm the longevity of this concept. This paper analyses provisions for slave concubinage and views of enslaved women in some of these sources with a particular focus on gender.«
